Tips And Tricks For Stage Fright And Singing With Vibrato

While learning how to sing vibrato may seem difficult, it might be easier than you think. Some will say that singing vibrato is something that will just happen to a healthy singer after a while, but this isn’t necessarily true.

Singing vibrato is something that is controlled by the singer, and a good healthy vibrato happens about six oscillations per second, and any slower than that is called tremolo and any faster than that is called a shake. You want to avoid too fast of a vibrato and too slow of a vibrato because both sound terrible.

In this article I also want to talk about stage fright, having anxiety before walking onto stage to perform. This is a common problem for performers of all types. Even professional performers still often have a degree of stage fright before going on stage and even while being on stage.

So I want to give you a few tips on how to avoid stage fright and the anxiety that comes along with it. One of the main things that you can do to curb stage fright is to be prepared. Nothing battles against stage fright as much as preparedness. Being prepared allows more of a sense of peace, and this peace gets rid of the anxiety and fear that comes with stage fright.

If you are prepared, and you have practice your craft, and have practiced your songs and know your lyrics, then you will be much more comfortable and at peace, so stage fright will be less and less.

This also has to do with things like knowing what you are going to wear and having your outfit set out. I know this sounds a little trivial but it is a combination of the little things that causes the most fear and anxiety. So if you take care of all the little things then the fear and anxiety begin to become less and less and less.

Another thing that you can do is visit the venue before you perform there, if you have a chance. Visiting the venue takes some of the unknown out of the equation, so you tend to be more relaxed and know what to expect when you get there. Showing up to the venue allows you to see where you will stand, where you will go on stage and where everybody will be sitting.

This tends to have a tremendous effect on those who suffer from stage fright. Another common difficulty for many singers is how to sing vocal harmonies. This can be a difficult thing as it was for me for many years. But with some practice and listening and copying others you will eventually get harmony down. So keep at it and best of luck as you learn how to sing harmony.
