How to sing better
Most people can sing better than they think. The gap is usually technique, not talent — and technique is learnable.
Tips
- Breathe low and wide. Place a hand on your ribs and feel them expand sideways on the inhale, not just your chest lifting.
- Warm up before you push. Lip trills, humming, and gentle sirens prep your cords for harder work.
- Record yourself weekly. You hear yourself differently inside your head than a microphone does.
- Practice pitch before range. Nailing the center of each note matters more than hitting the highest note.
- Stop when it hurts. Hoarseness after singing means something is wrong — rest and reset before continuing.
When to get a coach.
A good coach catches habits you can't hear yourself. One lesson often saves months of guessing.
