How to sing in tune
Being "tone deaf" is rare. Most pitch issues come from unsupported breath, tense throat, or ears that haven't been trained yet.
Tips
- Use a piano app or tuner. Sing one note, check it, adjust, repeat until your body remembers the feeling.
- Sing intervals — start with thirds and fifths. "Happy Birthday" and "Here Comes the Bride" are built-in ear trainers.
- Record and listen back without cringing. You'll hear pitch drift you miss while singing.
- Relax your jaw and tongue. Tension pulls pitch sharp; a loose jaw helps you land centered.
- Sing unaccompanied sometimes. A backing track can mask pitch problems you need to hear.
When to get a coach.
Pitch accuracy is trainable at any age. Coaches use exercises your app can't replicate.
